Today when I left for my walk I made a conscious decision to leave my music at home. I had a lot to think about and the quiet of my neighborhood in the middle of a weekday afternoon is big enough to let my mind standup, stretch, and move around a bit. Lost in my thoughts, I was startled by a booming voice that came from a newly built garage, the hollow structure amplifying it like a personal speaker just for me.
“You want to do something big, right?” he asked into his phone.
Yeah, I want to do something big, I thought to myself.
“Well, if you want to do something big, you got to make sacrifices.”
What sacrifices do I have to make?
As I turned the corner the conversation was lost to the wind and I never heard the answer.
My mind tumbled the question around hoping that by viewing it from all perspectives the answer would become apparent. I have wanted to do something big for as long as I can remember.
As I continued on my way, the answers seem to float up to me from a place way down deep.
You want to do something big?
Then you have to be willing to let go of your personal agenda for the greater good of the world.
You have to sacrifice focusing on the destination to enjoy the journey.
You have to be willing to give more than you receive because it will never be about you.
You want to do something big, right?
Yes. Yes I do.
Then you got to make some sacrifices.
