I have been battered, bruised and broken. I have felt like I was Rocky Balboa, late into the match, final rounds, knocked down to the canvas, lying in the ring with one eye swollen shut and blood dripping down my face. I have thought about just closing the other eye and giving up.
Maybe you are there now.
But, if you watch the movie you know that he had his trainer yelling at him, “Get up!” And, I had mine.
When you are down for the count and you feel like the world thinks you are a bum, that you have no worth, that you are never going to be anybody, you are never going to win, get the job, feel better, sell the house, catch a break, that is when God starts. That is when God says, “Get up.”
That’s it. If we just get up, try once more, take a step in His direction, make one more phone call, believe one more time, we will get our comeback.
After I got up, I became a published author, professional speaker and now work for a company that is literally going to change the world.
Did I avoid getting punched after I got up, no. But, I stayed on my feet and fought back.
Fight for the life you are meant to live.
Ignore the voice in your head or the ones from well-meaning and not so well-meaning friends who say you don’t have a shot, you are “nothing but a bum, Rocky,” things are not going to work out, it is impossible.
Instead, listen to the only voice that matters.
Cue the Rocky music!
