I sent out my first e-mail today to the group who is participating in my journey turning “The Promise” into a book. I am trying to determine the time line of the story so I was looking for feedback on where to start. I wanted to know how much back story they were interested in. I also asked if they could talk to God, what would be the one thing they would want to know. I have had some interesting responses.
Reading the replies, I realized how lucky I am to be able to communicate with this group while drafting this story. The answers have inspired me to write other parts to the conversation Sam has with God. These are questions I would not have thought to ask. One is why does God whisper. Another is am I living up to his expectation. These are questions we all share.
I am still torn about where to begin the book. The first page is the hardest to write because you want to engage the reader right there. If it doesn’t compel them to turn the page, it is over. Where in Sam’s life do I start so that the conversation she has with God makes sense? Tough question. I am glad I have people willing to share their answers.
If you want to read “The Promise” send an e-mail to email@example.com and I will send it out to you.
Psalm 19:14 Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in your sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.
