I found gratitude in the Emergency department at our local hospital. Strange place to find it especially when I wasn’t even looking. But, isn’t that the best kind of gratitude? Last night I took my daughter to the Emergency because she had a bad stomach flu and there was no other clinics available. As soon as we pulled up we could see[…]

I have been battered, bruised and broken. I have felt like I was Rocky Balboa, late into the match, final rounds, knocked down to the canvas, lying in the ring with one eye swollen shut and blood dripping down my face. I have thought about just closing the other eye and giving up. Maybe you are there now. But, if[…]
I have a personal mission in life to always leave people better off than how I found them, even if they are terrible drivers, have 16 items in the express lane and then pay counting out dimes and nickels or they have no idea of the concept of customer service. I leave people better off because that is what we[…]
How many of us have begrudgingly done something we are supposed to do? We don’t really like our neighbor but we bring their recycle boxes up anyways, mumbling and grumbling the whole way. We don’t feel like watching our best friend’s children but we owe them one. We don’t want to go to work, but we do, and, everyone knows[…]
Okay, I will admit it, I have spent the last few years making excuses. I am old, I wasn’t born with double-jointed thumbs and a cell phone in my hands, I am an epic failure, I am not worthy, he or she or they did or did not do something that made it hard for me to do my thing…you[…]
I have been working hard over the past couple of months and haven’t been able to keep up with my TV shows. One of the shows I like is Nashville so I started watching episodes back to back to catch up. There is a lot of drama, much of which I don’t care about, but there are great songs and[…]
What are you willing to risk to live your life at the highest level? No one goes from ordinary to extraordinary without taking a risk. Some put financial security on the line. Others, physical safety. For the majority of us, it is the little things that stop us from moving towards excellency. We don’t want to offend anyone. Our spouse[…]
Tomorrow I start my food challenge Live Below The Line to raise funds for the World Food Program. I get a $1.50/day to buy food.
What was I thinking?
Today I went grocery shopping. It didn’t take me long. Well, there was a math delay trying to find the right combination that added up to $7.50, the five-day challenge total. Can I buy one banana or two? That is what it came down to.
The last couple of weeks I have had some adversity. Nothing earth shattering but enough little things that they started to add up against me and I was really struggling. But, for me, adversity is an old foe and I have learned how to get past him. The thing is, we all need a plan to deal with adversity. Here[…]
The most frequent question I get asked is, “How do I get unstuck? I know where I want to go, but I can’t seem to get from here to there.” I have always depended on the power of words to inspire and motivate, especially the strength in the words, I am . In Exodus 3:14 God told Moses, “I AM[…]
